Occupational Safety & Health Training


Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a WorkSafe Western Australian accredited provider for the training of Elected Safety and Health Representatives.

 

Held at our Joondalup campus, our WorkSafe WA Accredited five day course for OSH Representatives will provide representatives with information and skills to enable them to effectively carry out their role as "representatives" of employees, and as defined under Section 33 of the Act.

 

By participating in the training, OSH Representatives will gain skills in how to:

1. Apply the legislative requirements to the workplace;

2. Understand and apply the principles of Risk Management by participating in and conducting a workplace inspection;

3. Apply the techniques of accident investigation;

4. Assist the employer in the development of accident prevention, controls and systems; and

5. Effectively communicate with the employer and employees on safety and health matters.

 

About the Course:         

Course duration is 5 days, Monday to Friday. The course commences at 8.30am daily with a half-hour lunch break and concludes around 4.15pm. Tea and coffee is included and ECU provides facilities for the purchase of meals.

 

What the Course Will Cover:

DAY 1: Apply Knowledge of Legislation

DAY 2: Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Management

DAY 3: Conduct Workplace Inspections and Investigations

DAY 4: Communicate Safety and Health Matters and Represent Employees

DAY 5: Resolve Conflict and Issue Provisional Improvement Notices
