If you intend to apply for promotion to Levels B, C or D, please use this quick checklist to ensure that you have complied with the requirements.

Academic Roles / Categories for Application (for further information see the Guideline)
The standard academic role is that of Teaching and Research Scholar. Are you applying under your assigned Academic Role or appropriate category for application for promotion? Yes / No If No, you may only apply under your assigned Academic Role as agreed between yourself and your Relevant Line Manager, unless (depending on the level of promotion they are applying for) the following additional categories are available:
  1. Academic Leadership
  2. Research and Creative Artist ONLY
If you have been assigned to a different academic role, other than Teaching and Research Scholar, have you been in the role for 1 year or more prior to applying for promotion? Yes / No If No, you will have to wait until you have been in the role for 1 year or more before you can apply or your application will be returned. (Note: This requirement will come into effect for the 2007 promotion round).
Eligibility (for further information see the Guideline)
Are you a continuing or fixed contract employee? Yes / No If No, apply when eligible.
Do you have one or more years of continuous service with the University (sessional service excluded)? Yes / No If No, apply when eligible.
Are you subject to formal disciplinary action by the University? Yes / No If Yes, and the disciplinary action are substantiated, you are not eligible. If the disciplinary action is not substantiated, the application will be assessed.
Qualifications, Experience and Performance (for further information see the Guideline)
Do you have the relevant qualifications/experience for the level for which you are applying? Yes / No If No, discuss strategies with your line manager to meet the criterion (refer to the Management for Performance process). Apply when eligible.
Do you meet the minimum standards of performance for your existing academic level? Yes / No If No, discuss strategies with your line manager to meet the criterion (refer to the Management for Performance process). Apply when eligible.
Have you demonstrated that you are achieving a sustained level of performance commensurate with the expectations and requirements for the level you are applying for? Yes / No If No, discuss strategies with your line manager to meet the criterion (refer to the Management for Performance process). Apply when eligible.
Application and Evidence (for further information see the Guideline)
Have you used this year's application form? Yes / No If No, obtain and complete the current form.
Is your application within the page limits for each section? Yes / No If No, revise your application to ensure it complies with the page limits.
Is your application in Arial font, with a minimum size of 11? Yes / No If No, reformat your application.
Have you completed ALL sections of the application? Yes / No If No, complete all relevant sections.
If you are applying under any roles, except for "Teaching and Research Scholar" have you obtained the signature from your Head of Faculty? Yes / No If No, obtain the signature.
Is each page clearly numbered? Yes / No If No, number each page.
Line Manager's Report (for further information see the Guideline)
Is your line manager eligible and available? (Line Managers may not be eligible if they are applying for the same level promotion) Yes / No If Yes, approach your Head of Faculty to complete the report or nominate an alternative line manager.
Have you provided the Line Manager's Report with your application? Yes / No If No, submit your Line Manager's Report with your application.
Have you provided a response to the Line Manager's Report with your application? Yes / No If No, decide if you need to provide your response to the Line Manager's Report with your application. It is entirely optional.
Referee Reports (for further information see the Guideline)
Have you included the names and email addresses of two (2) referees in your application? Yes / No If No, enter the names and email addresses of your referees into the e-Promotions system.
Are any of your referees applicants in this year's promotion round? Yes / No If Yes, nominate someone else.
Do you have at least one external referee? Yes / No If No, ensure you nominate someone externally.
Have you notified your Referees to expect an e-mail from HR Services requesting that they provide a Referee Report? Yes / No If No, please inform them. It is the applicants' responsibility to manage their referees.
Assessor Reports (for further information see the Guideline)
For Level D applicants only - If you do not want the University to approach a person for the purposes of obtaining an Assessor Report, have you provided the assessor's name and reason why? Yes / No If No, and you wish to exclude some people from providing a report, ensure that you supply the name of the assessor and the reason for the exclusion in the e-Promotion system.
